SCHRAMMEL - Weana Gmüath Waltzer

Johann Schrammel (1850-1893) founded both a trio and a quartet that played dance and salon music all over Vienna and its environs; his compositions include numerous marches and waltzes, from among which we hear "Weana Gmüath" — Viennese Cheer. The "Cachucha Gallop” by Johann Strauss Sr. is named for a Spanish-style dance that was a specialty of the ballerina Fanny Elssler, a great favorite of Viennese audiences in the 1830s. It's a lively celebration of the whole world of the dance as it was known in Old Vienna.
